Dr. Kelsy Burke is currently an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and Public Fellow for the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI). After receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013, she has become a leading expert on the relationship between conservative Christianity and sexual politics in the United States. Her research has been supported by multiple grants and fellowships, including an award from the National Science Foundation, and published in top scholarly journals.
Kelsy’s first book is the award-winning Christians under Covers: Evangelicals and Sexual Pleasure on the Internet (University of California Press, 2016). Her second book is The Pornography Wars: The Past, Present, and Future of America’s Obscene Obsession (Bloomsbury, January 2023). Her writing has also appeared in the Guardian, Huffington Post, Newsweek, Religion News Service, Salon, Slate Magazine, Sojourners, and the Washington Post.
She lives in Lincoln with her spouse, two children, and their assorted pets.
